Mauger Caye, Turneffe Atoll, Belize
M2 Deployed Here!
Location Summary
This site monitors vessel activity in the northern area of the Turneffe Atoll Marine Reserve in Belize co-managed by Turneffe Atoll Sustainability Association (TASA). Commercial and recreational fishing and tourism activities are common in the reserve. M2 supports TASA Conservation Officers' daily patrols in the reserve, where they document and manage user activity to ensure all fisheries and reserve regulations are adhered to.
In 2021, TASA deployed an M2 system at Caye Bokel that monitors human activity near the southern side of the reserve. The Mauger Caye system was deployed in 2026 and expands monitoring coverage of the reserve.
